DESCRIPTION:Visiting Niederrhein Lodge in Düsseldorf #1 \nHow important and what pleasure visiting other Lodges gives. Sat in the North East at Niederrhein and about to give his greetings\, the WM next to me whispered “This will surprise them!” \nHe proceeded to give greetings from Lodge Erin No 463 (Irish Constitution) in Province of Hong Kong. It caused great smiles and whispered approval. Later\, I took him aside and told him I had a surprise for him and produced from my case a founders medal for Lodge Erin. \nIt had belonged to my uncle\, Chief Engine Room Artificer Harry Bell of The Royal Navy. I discovered that he had been raised in the Irish Constitution while serving with the RN in Malta. The story goes that his ship got into ‘bad odeur’ for some reason and was sent to the South China Station at Shanghai for maybe 2 years? \nWith so much spare time on their hands they formed Lodge Erin. \nWell done uncle Harry! \nW Bro Gordon Rayfield PJGD\nPM Star of Saxony Lodge \nLodge Erin No 463 (Irish Constitution) in Province of Hong Kong

DESCRIPTION:It was the 16th of January 1991\, the day of my initiation into Star of Saxony. Both my brother and my father were Freemasons. Sadly my Dad died early in 1965 but my brother\, now a UGLE GL Officer\, was in attendance (only after receiving a dispensation from UGLE because of ‘recognition’ problems). I was to learn that evening that my brother\, only 61 years old\, was fatally ill\, with but 9 months to live. It could not have been a more poignant evening. \nWM Arthur Bradshaw\, his Wardens and team of officers conducted an excellent double first for me and a German brother. We sat next to each other at the Festive Board. It was a splendid evening and at one point my new German brother asked whether I worked at RAF Brueggen? I confirmed that I did. He pressed by asking when the desert war with Iraq would begin? \nThose were closely held secrets to which I was not privy. Yes\, I ran the Operations Squadron at Brueggen but was far too low on the totem to know. He pressed me further! But when – would I guess? I said everything pointed to today and\, looking at my watch\, the attack would start about now. \nI was not to meet this brother for another year. When we did he introduced me to his German friends and told them I was the guy he’d told them about that not only guessed the date\,  but also the time of the attack. It was a complete fluke of course\, but it added to the memory my initiation into Star of Saxony Lodge – one of the best things I ever did. \nW Bro Gordon Rayfield PJGD \nPM Star of Saxony Lodge

DESCRIPTION:At the Socrates Lodge 201 st Installation on Tuesday 16 th January the Provincial Grand\nMaster RW Bro Mark Constant took WBro Brian Gebbels by surprise\, presenting him his\n50 year Jubilee Certificate at the same time regaling Bro Brian’s impressive masonic career to\nthe Brethren. \n(Image Above: Snr Grp Officer FE Margot- PGM RW Bro MR Constant- WBro BR Gebbels- Grp Officer JF Clarke)\nWhile serving at RAF Kinloss\, Scotland\, as a Lewis\, Brian was initiated at his father’s behest\ninto Weyland Lodge No6507 Bicester in October 1973 while attending an Instructors\nCourse. Subsequent postings and tours made regular attendance difficult\, in particular\npostings to Laarbruch and later Rheindahlen. Undeterred he joined Star of Saxony Lodge\nunder the jurisdiction of the United Grand Lodge of Germany\, where his commitment to\nMasonry saw him promoted to Past Grand Standard Bearer but unfortunately this was not\nrecognised by UGLE on his return in 1988. Now a Warrant Officer\, he re-started his masonic\ncareer afresh with Socrates Lodge\, where his dedication and diligence resulted in\npromotions to PPJGW. Completing his masonic journey\, WBro Brian was Exalted into\nSocrates Royal Arch Chapter in 1994 where his fervency and zeal have seen him serve as\nFirst Principal of Chapter of First Principals and appointment to Supreme Grand Chapter\nrank in 2015. \nSocrates Installation Grand and Active Officers

DESCRIPTION:Dear All.\nWe will be handing over the collected charity amount to Bruno-Lelieveld Haus on Friday the 24th of November at 12:00.\nThe Bruno-Lelieveld Haus day center provides low-threshold support such as a temporary stay\, a friendly conversation\, breakfast and lunch and a cup of coffee and/or a glass of water and a good lunch three times a week for up to 90 hungry people. \nThis year we have collected over €4\,200. It’s an amazing sum for such a small lodge and everybody should be really proud of themselves for having made this possible.\nIt would be great to see some of you there.
